We, like tide
moved out at night
and watched the people sitting

rooms, television on. Its shine the
only light with no stars
to speckle our path,
only white
flowers. Huddled together for warmth
or just pretending
that we dry faster that way.
I would have told
you, powdered sugar
for dessert, and that
I bought glass slippers,
but now all that's left
is my desire to watch closely
